Why We Started

In the early 2000s, a small group of huge-hearted people saw a hole in summer camp programs. Individuals were being overlooked because of their disability. They struggled in “traditional” summer camps but did not quite fit in programs that were designed for disabled campers, and at times the cost of those programs was exorbitant. Then the Adventure Camp was born.

Our Mission

We strive to create a safe environment for individuals with disabilities to develop skills, while feeling a sense of belonging. The camp aims to influence a community of acceptance, compassion, and empathy.

What We Are

Peacekeeper Park Adventure Camp offers a barrier-free outdoor adventure based program for individuals with disabilities. It is designed so that every activity offered is adaptable for all ability levels. We have two programs and both are specifically designed with our campers in mind. Our Explorer Program focuses on fostering friendships, development of confidence, and self advocacy. We also have a Leaders in Training Program that has been designed to help inspire our campers to not just advocate for themselves but pushes them to lead others as well.

Peacekeeper Park Adventure Camp was such a great experience for Ben - he made new friends (which he talks about a lot) and got to do canoeing, swimming in the pool and the lake, zip lining, lots of games, camp fires with s'mores. There was an ice cream eating contest and rock climbing. It is an opportunity for Ben to be more independent and learn new skills. I would highly recommend it!! I am so glad we learned about this camp - the Camp Director 'Pilon' is amazing along with all the volunteers! We look forward to the next Spaghetti Dinner and reacquainting with all.
